A happiness bypassed

A word not whispered
A painting not touched
A music not played
A smile not beamed
A hand not caressed
An eye not met
A happiness bypassed.

And yet,
There was a whisper
A stroke of colour
A note of melody
A touch of warmth
A glance so gentle
A tentative heart so near.

Flowers bloomed in the bushes
Birds sang from the trees
The sea in the distance turned azure
The sunset came with an alpenglow.
